Outreach
The CAF Florida Wing hosts a wide variety of organizations with STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) outreach programs. Our education programs reach generations of Americans to ensure they value and support military aviation that protect our national freedom. Our programming recreates, remind, and reinforces the lessons learned from the defining moments in American military aviation history by providing active learning activities for youth and adults.
Girl Scouts, Scouts of America, JROTC, Aviation Explorer posts, and church groups participate in CAF STEM programing on a regular basis. We cater each program to the diverse ages and interests of each organization. A tour of the 10,000 square foot CAF hangar at DeLand Municipal Airport, history and educational briefings of aircraft (which may include mechanical and aircraft systems classes and preflight inspections). We offer flight simulator opportunities, movies, and the opportunity to sit in the pilot's seat of a vintage warbird.
Guest speakers from throughout the aviation industry share their paths in aviation and field myriad questions from the youth and adults. We also have a lot of fun hosting pizza parties under the wing of a vintage aircraft while watching movies like Hidden Figures and Top Gun on the big screen.
